Fireworks
I couldn’t really hear what you said
Through the crowd on Sukhbaatar Square
Though from the crinkle under your eyes
I see you still haven’t lost your flair
Ducking under champagne corks flying
In formation with falling snow overhead
You asking me something I stopped
Taking part a long time ago
Reminds me those rainy days spent lying
In bed, recalling those failed lives we led
Me telling stories of things that
You’ll never remember again
Now we meet once more under the fire works
You with your husband me with my kids
I smile and nod here and there among
All the noise, missing words I will
Never hear again.
